Screening
To collect audience feedback from my chosen product, the second method I used was a focus group. This is Quantitative research. The pros and cons of using this type of method is that I had the chance to be introduced to new ideas from different adverts by the audience. It also have me the opportunity to gain an insight into what my audience may like, for example. The questions I asked were:
1) Question: What is the target audience?
Response: Teenagers
2) Question: Do you think the advert was effective?
Response: The ideas that have just been shown, will be great to use in our own advert because it'll make the advert effective.
3) Question: Do you think the advert is effective?
Response: Some answers were positive.
The negative feedback we received was about the recording in the background. The audience stated that they struggled to hear the recording in the background because the music was louder than the recording. The other feedback was about the false advertising because they saw that she was wearing false eyelashes in the advert. However we used the eyelashes to accentuate her natural eyelashes to give a full effect on the eyes.
Pros and Cons of my advert:
Pros:
- Research is qualitative and quantitative.
- All qualitative research/information gathered is reliable and correct
Cons:
- The audience may disagree with the advert or even the information used in it.
- All quantitative research/information gathered may not be reliable.
The age group of the audience that we presented our advert to are between the ages of 17-18 years. This age group was best because as they are a young generation, they will be aware and familiar of the type of mascara product we were presenting. In the presentation we asked some open ended questions and some closed. This was a chance for the audience to go into depth about what they thought about the advert, on the other hand we asked closed questions so that the response could be exactly what we wanted and straight forward. Furthermore, our feedback was very reliable because that was the first time for the audience to see the advert so they would obviously say what comes to mind first which makes the responses honest. However, if there were any improvements to be made it'll be that there would not be any use of false eyelashes to not give the impression of false advertising and more scenes would have been included.
